Well, it's been a taxing weekend. Friday, I went to have surgery to remove two tumors from my ovaries. I've been basically in medical hell for the last year or so as doctors tried to figure out what the heck was causing me so much pain for so long, and finally, about a month ago, it was revealed via ultrasound that I had some very large tumors on my right ovary which were squishing everything up in there and causing me some great difficulties.
Relieved that we knew what was causing the problem, surgery was scheduled, painkillers were consumed, and nerves were wrought. Sam took me Friday at 5 a.m. to the hospital and over the course of all my body peircings having to be removed and the entire hospital staff exclaiming over my tattoos, they finally removed my stupid tumors and sent me on my way, stumbling under anesthesia and saying gods know what.
I have to walk with a cane a for the moment and alas, I cannot work. Oh no, whatever will I do! :) But I've been spending copious amounts of time with my cats and my Hammer box set, which I finished all in one day. I might spend some time with the Bela Lugosi collection tonight, and between bouts of sleepiness brought on by hydrocodone, I've been getting a lot of reading done. Blogging has slowed to non-existent, but I shall return. I always do!
I would post pictures of my ugly, ugly scars, but seriously, we all like to live in a fantasy world, and I can hardly look at them myself, so I won't do that to ya. Unless you really want me to! See you guys soon!

There should be some kinda group-funded "Send Jenn Some Super-Obscuro DVDs To Watch During Recovery" fund. There could be a telethon! Mickey Rooney circa The Manipulator/BJ Lang Presents could host!
ReplyDeleteWow - I'm jealous that you're getting some time off work and will have some apparently awesome scars, but I also wish ya a speedy recovery and hope all goes well! Damn our human shells, constantly trying to confound and sabotage us with assorted maladies!!
ReplyDeleteJenn, get well soon. Take your pain meds on schedule, get lots of rest, and increase your protein intake. I also couldn't agree more with the classic horror movie marathons - the best prescription for a speedy recovery if there ever was one!
ReplyDeleteThanks guys! You are awesome! i am loving the lazy time loafing around and I love that I don't have to vacuum or unload the dishwasher! Movie marathons are helpful too; thank the lords I love horror movies, because the double and triple features just keep comin'
ReplyDeleteJenn, sorry to hear about the problems you`ve been experiencing but at least Mr. Cushing and Mr. Lee are there to keep you feeling cheerful, i hope you`re back to full strength soon.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you're all laid up, but glad to hear you're finally getting that pain thing taken care of--one hopes, anyway! So after you recover, that should be the end of all that torture, right?
ReplyDelete>>I have to walk with a cane for the moment
PLEASE tell me it has a silver wolf's head. Or at least that it's a sword cane a la the Mother Superior in BEHIND CONVENT WALLS! ;)
Get well soon.
I WISH my cane had a wolf's head AND a dagger inside! In fact, I was exclaiming about that very thing just yesterday! Alas, though, it's just an old wooden cane, but it did belong to my grandfather.
ReplyDeleteThis should be the end of all my medical woes, at least I hope so. I'll be back out on the dance floor before too long. :)
A good movie binge is always the best cure, especially when you have someone on hand to bring you drinks and fudge.
ReplyDeleteI know last time I caught a fever, I ended up watching "Seven" four times in the same day, which honestly isn't a bad way to work off a fever :)
Hope your back to your shiny self soon!!
Recover soon, Jenn!
ReplyDeleteHappy convalescing! In the meantime, here's a get well soon present: http://fasterpussycats.blogspot.com/2010/09/and-awards-go-to.html
ReplyDeleteThanks, y'all. And thanks, Mama, for the Zombie Rabbit :) Nothing says speedy recovery like a Zombie Rabbit!

ReplyDeletehey, Mother Firefly says your place rocks. It does. She also says you are bit under the weather. I can see that from your post. Hang in there, it will make good stories later on!

Get well soon! I hope the cats are good nurses and you don't run out of movies.
ReplyDeleteHi Lazarus, thank you so much! I know, I am getting crazy over here, lying on the couch, drinking red wine while taking my painkillers. The fever dreams are hilarious, if not unsettling :) Thanks for stopping by! Do so often!
ReplyDeleteOh, Adam, these old cats LOVE having me here 24/7. I can't even enter the bathroom without two cats by my side. They won't know what to do with themselves when I finally put on something other than pajamas and actually go back to work. Thanks for your your kind words :)
ReplyDeleteMy friend, hang tough. It gets better after this ordeal. Scars are sexy and define a rugged character. Be glad you have Sam and cats (and the great Bela). I had a dear friend that had same torturous circumstance. Like you, she is so cool. -- Mykal
ReplyDeleteNo good Jenn, sorry to hear it! Let Squirm be your comfort and heal fast!
